How to reconnect with your sacral chakra

How to reconnect with your sacral chakra

Have you been feeling a bit bored, creatively blocked and unmotivated lately? Know you need change but are afraid of it? Maybe your sacral chakra needs a bit of love!

The second of the seven chakras, the sacral chakra is found in your lower abdomen just below your navel. It’s effectively the pleasure energy centre of your body and controls your sense of wellbeing, creativity, and sexuality.

When your sacral chakra is open, you’ll feel stimulated and full of creative ideas, but when it’s blocked, you’ll feel bored, uninspired, and afraid of change.

So how can you work with the sacral chakra to make sure it’s all in balance?

Use healing crystals and jewellery

There are specific crystals that are linked to each of your chakras and they can help to heal them by being held in your hands, carried in your pockets, or worn as jewellery. To help with your sacral chakra, you can use orange calcite and carnelian to enhance creativity, moonstone to reduce worry, and citrine to increase self-esteem. Because orange is the colour of your sacral chakra, working with orange crystals will help you get the best results.

Eat foods associated with your sacral chakra

Eating fruits like oranges, papayas, mangoes and peaches will help to keep your sacral chakra aligned. Coconuts can also increase your energy levels and get you feeling creative and inspired. Seeds are also great for helping out with this chakra - any of them will do, but pumpkin, sunflower, and poppy seeds are best. If you can’t get your hands on any of the above, clear liquids work wonders for your sacral chakra so try a steamy broth or herbal tea.

Surround yourself with orange

It can be quite a startling colour so maybe don’t go painting your entire house orange, but adding pops of it here and there can really stimulate your creativity and help to open your sacral chakra. Maybe wear a bright orange scarf, or introduce a Himalayan Salt Lamp to your environment. If you’ve got a specific place where you like to be creative such as an office or workshop, add in some bright orange paintings or accessories.

Get some good old H2O

Because the sacral chakra is largely related to the element of water, reconnecting yourself with water will help to increase your ability to flow with change and open this chakra. You don’t have to immerse yourself in it, although that will likely feel refreshing and stimulating, you can just sit on the beach near the sea. You could even take a relaxing bath or dip in the pool to get yourself reacquainted with the natural relief that water offers.
