Backflow incense burners turn fragrance into a mesmerising smoke waterfall. Watch the smoke drift down a sculpted path and gather below: a lovely focus for a quiet ritual. Choose a design for your space, then add backflow incense cones for that cascading effect.

Choose a burner for your space ✨

  • A small waterfall: the black ceramic Original Waterfall burner measures 8 cm high × 9.7 cm wide × 11 cm deep.
  • A peaceful figure: the Buddha Waterfall burner measures 10 cm high × 8 cm wide × 8.5 cm deep, with a smaller footprint.
  • A dramatic centrepiece: the Dragon burner sends smoke from its mouth towards a crystal ball. Its listed dimensions are 19 × 20 × 10 cm.

Measure your surface before choosing. Leave clear space around the burner, rather than putting it inside a tight shelf.

Add the right incense cones

Backflow cones have a hollow channel that lets smoke travel down the burner. Ordinary cones will not create the waterfall effect. Choose cones labelled backflow incense, and do not assume cones come with the burner. The Buddha Waterfall listing specifies that they are sold separately.

Check the current cone options before choosing a gift, so the recipient can enjoy the display as well as the ornament.

Set up a calm smoke display 🕯️

Place the burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface or tray, away from curtains and paper. Keep the room ventilated, but choose a spot away from a direct draught so the smoke can follow its path.

Never leave burning incense unattended. Keep children and pets clear, and let the burner cool fully before wiping away ash and residue. Our incense holder guide covers matching and caring for different holders.
