Numerology Calculator

Type in your birth date and your full name, and the calculator gives you your five core numbers: Life Path, Expression, Soul Urge, Personality and Maturity. ✨ It shows every addition and every reduction, keeps the master numbers 11, 22 and 33, and pairs each number with a crystal from our shelves.

How the numbers are worked out

The calculator uses the Pythagorean system, the one most Western numerology books teach. Each letter takes a value from 1 to 9, starting again at J and at S. Add the values up, then reduce the total to one digit by adding its digits together. The exception is 11, 22 and 33: numerology calls these master numbers, so the calculator leaves them whole. 🔮

  • Life Path comes from your birth date. Reduce the day, the month and the year separately, then add the three results and reduce again.
  • Expression (also called Destiny) uses every letter of your full birth name. Each name is added and reduced on its own, then the names are added together.
  • Soul Urge uses only the vowels: A, E, I, O and U, plus Y when a name has no other vowel.
  • Personality uses only the consonants.
  • Maturity is your Life Path and Expression added together and reduced. Tradition says it describes the person you grow into.

A worked example: someone born on 14 August 1990. The day 14 becomes 5, the month is 8, and 1990 becomes 19, then 10, then 1. Add 5, 8 and 1 for 14, which reduces to 5. Their Life Path is 5.

What to do with your numbers

Read the Life Path first; tradition calls it the main road of your life. The Expression is the toolkit you were born with, the Soul Urge is what quietly motivates you, and the Personality is the face you show at the door. 🌙 If two numbers match, that trait runs strongly in you.

FAQs

How does this numerology calculator work?

It uses the standard Pythagorean method. Each letter is worth 1 to 9 from the Pythagorean letter chart. Your birth date gives the Life Path; your full birth name gives the Expression, Soul Urge and Personality; Life Path plus Expression gives the Maturity number. The calculator prints each addition and reduction so you can check it yourself.

What are master numbers, and when are they kept?

In numerology, 11, 22 and 33 are treated as master numbers with a stronger emphasis than the single digits they would reduce to. The calculator keeps them whenever a total lands on one, whether that is the reduced day, month or year, a single name, or the final sum. Every other total is reduced to one digit.

Which name should I use?

Use the full name on your birth certificate, middle names included, for the core numbers. A married or chosen name changes your Expression, Soul Urge and Personality numbers, so run it a second time if you are curious. The Life Path never changes, because your birth date does not.

What is a maturity number in numerology?

Your maturity number is your Life Path and Expression numbers added together and reduced, with master numbers kept. Tradition says it shows the person you grow into and the strengths that come forward from your mid-thirties on. The calculator works it out for you and gives it the same short meaning as the other numbers.
